At some time in our lives, each of us participates in a celebration which is part of our heritage, whether it be within our family structure or within our community. we each treasure the beautiful traditions which have been handed down from generation to generation, and they play a major role in our identity as Italian-Americans. However, HERITAGE goes further beyond the family, and plays a significant role in American culture. Did you know that since the American Revolution in 1776, the Italian-Americans have served their country with pride and honor in every war? Are you aware that libraries could be devoted entirely to the accomplishments of the Italian-American community pertaining to music, sports, science and religion? Sadly enough, most Americans are not aware of these priceless contributions we have made to achieve a greater America. In order to achieve the recognition which these contributions so richly deserved, we as Italian-Americans must unite with PRIDE and HONOR. If UNITY is to become a common denominator among all Italian-Americans, it then becomes necessary for us as brothers and sisters to take a more active part in promoting our heritage, not only for ourselves, but for the betterment of all mankind. We have a country for which to be thankful and a heritage of which to be proud.
